Support

Start with the most useful signal.

This page covers safe first-level checks. It never asks you to expose SNMP to the Internet.

The NAS does not appear

  1. Check that the Mac and NAS can reach each other on the same LAN or through a private route.
  2. Confirm that SNMP is enabled on the NAS.
  3. Run local discovery again, then use manual add if needed.

Some data is missing

  1. A capability not exposed by the NAS remains unavailable or partial.
  2. DSM versions and models do not all provide the same metrics.
  3. Review diagnostics before concluding that something has failed.

Remote access

  1. Use an existing private route such as Tailscale.
  2. Do not expose SNMP directly to the Internet.
  3. An address change should not create a second NAS when reliable identity matches.

Prepare for a diagnosis

  • macOS version
  • NAS model and DSM version
  • Network path used: LAN or private route
  • A concise description of the signal — without passwords or SNMP community strings

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does NAS Sentinel send my NAS data to the cloud?

No. NAS monitoring remains local between your Mac and your devices. Only the information you voluntarily enter in this form is sent to support.

Can I use NAS Sentinel remotely?

Yes, through a private route you control, such as Tailscale or a correctly configured VPN. Never expose SNMP directly to the Internet.

Why is some information unavailable?

Metric availability depends on the NAS model, DSM version, and exposed capabilities. Missing data is not presented as a healthy state.

What should I include in a support request?

Include the macOS and DSM versions, NAS model, network path, and observed signal. Never send a password, private key, or SNMP community string.

Which languages does support use?

Support is provided only in English and French.

Where are support requests processed?

The form is protected and transmitted by Cloudflare, then received in the NAS Sentinel support mailbox hosted in Microsoft 365. The website does not retain the message in a database.

Can support access my NAS?

No. The form does not grant access to your Mac or NAS and does not collect telemetry automatically. You choose the information you submit.
